The Venue - Airo island

The location of Airo island is 6,3km from the Central Railway station of Helsinki where the Vantaa river meets the Baltic sea. It is considered by some to be the birthplace of where the city of Helsinki got its name and the remains of the oldest buildings in Helsinki are still present in the area. During early spring, heavy whitewater rapids surround the island creating a unique natural setting next to the urban area of Helsinki. The building, where Ultrahack is taking place, used to be the waterworks for parts of Helsinki until 1972, when turned into a museum of technology and lately a center for promoting artificial intelligence and robotics. The venue is reachable by buses to Viikintie 1 (Journey planner) bicycle or car. The car can be parked a short walk away, east of the island on Katariina Saksilaisen Katu or Jokisuuntie.
